Local shredder, Lucy Adams with a preview test run

Client: Countryside Properties
Site: Broadbridge Heath, Horsham
Completion: 2019
CANVAS were commissioned by Countryside Properties to carry out the consultation, design and construction of a facility to compliment a wide range of improvement works taking place within Broadbridge Heath by Horsham District Council.
With an encouraging client and a local steering group including Dave Chesson and Lucy Adams, consultation proved very successful and concluded that this skatepark would aim to be a space that would be attractive for its inclusion of low-level, well considered forms that would encourage use due to their accessible nature and their appeal to technical skating whilst being within a flowing layout.
Taking influence from popular 'street spots' and DIY projects, such as the Train Banks Spot (TBS) in Sweden and interpreting them into a space that includes elements such as a hidden 'snake-run' of interesting features, including varied lips and a fence-ride, this skatepark will be an amazing park for the local community and one which we feel will be a popular destination spot due to its design rationale and, of course, construction quality.
